Car Crashes Into East Los Angeles Subway Sandwich Shop

A car crashed into the front window of a Subway sandwich shop in East Los Angeles Friday, July 8, authorities said.

The accident occurred about 7:40 a.m. in the 300 block of South Atlantic Boulevard, the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported.

The restaurant had just opened and employees saw it happen, Gene Ramirez, the restaurant owner told EGP. The car knocked out a window and the restaurant was closed until 12:30pm during clean up and to board up the window, he added.

The motorist sustained only minor injury. The structural integrity of the building was not compromised, the fire department reported.

The circumstances of the crash were under investigation.
