Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies last week discovered $2 million in stolen electronics at a business in East LA, the department announced on Oct. 16.
The discovery was made at 11am on Oct. 13 as deputies were contacting employees at the business located on the 1200 block of South Eastern Avenue and saw “shrink wrapped” electronics equipment loaded on wooden pallets.
“The pallets were similar to those commonly used for shipping, and appeared valuable,” the press release states. “Based on their preliminary investigation, and believing the merchandise may be stolen, East Los Angeles Sheriff’s deputies contacted Major Crimes Bureau / Cargo CAT’s investigators with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.”
The investigators determined the electronics and other items were stolen. The items are described as new flat panel televisions, home and mobile stereo equipment, commercial DLP projectors, clothing, ceramic tile and stone.
The items were seized but no arrests were made at the scene, according to authorities. The investigation is ongoing.
