Dress Like A Fireman For Breast Cancer Research

By EGP News Report

Vernon firefighters are offering a specially-designed work t-shirt as part of an effort to raise money for breast cancer research this month.

The work t-shirts are available in royal blue and features the Vernon Firefighter Association crest in pink on the front, the words “Vernon Fire Department” in pink letters on the back, and a pink ribbon on the right sleeve. A pink version with white lettering is also available.

These VFA ‘Pinktober’ shirts are available for $20 throughout October 2011 at each of Vernon’s four fire stations. Donations can also be made by going to the Susan G. Komen Foundation site at http://www.info-komen.org/site/PageServer?pagename=HQ_PP11_homepage, clicking on “Give to a Team” and entering the team name “Vernon Firemen’s Association” or team number “10589942.” All proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Vernon Firefighter Jason McEachran said cancer has affected the personal lives of many in the firefighter association. “We are all man enough to wear pink if it can help raise money to save lives by supporting breast cancer research,” he said.
