Murder Suicide Suspected In Bell Gardens
By EGP News Report
Bell Gardens police officers and firefighters responding to a call from a concerned family member climbed through a window of a home on 5900 block of Quinn Street at 6:43 p.m. Monday and found two dead bodies, according to authorities, who suspect it was a murder-suicide.
One of the deceased was identified as Christine Medina, 25, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter. The other person’s name was not released because family members in Mexico had not yet been notified, Winter told EGP on Wednesday.
Police believe Medina was strangled by her boyfriend, who then hung himself at the home they shared, Winter said.
The two only lived here a short time, had no prior contact with police and have a 4-year-old daughter, a source told EGP. The child was not at home at the time, and is expected to be placed a family member, the source said.
Anyone with information was urged to call sheriff’s homicide detectives at (323) 890-5500.
