Friday, November 11 – Veteran’s Day
10am-11:30am—The city of Commerce’s annual Veterans Day ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park, 6364 Zindell Ave. Event will include a processional march and tribute to all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. 11am—Monterey Park and American Legion Post 397 will co-host a Veterans Day ceremony in front of city hall. Post Commander Gabriel Flores will be the master of ceremony. For more information call (626) 307-1388.
11am—Montebello’s Veterans Day Ceremony will take place at City Park —1300 West Whittier Blvd in Montebello— and will include an invocation, mayor’s address, and performance by the Montebello High School Band. The event is being coordinated by the Montebello Senior Center.
1:30-2:30pm—A Patriotic Tribute: Honoring Our Veterans at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana. Join actors John and Laurel Jones in their lively and interactive presentation encompassing World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Audience participation is welcome in this entertaining and poignant program. Sponsored by the James Irvine Foundation. 9am-6pm—The Aquarium of the Pacific  is offering free admission to veterans, military personnel, police officers and firefighters with service I.D. 10:30am-Noon—The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Library  celebrates Veterans Day with a free program featuring a flyover and live music. Separate admission to the library. Throughout the year, active military members pay $9 admission for active military with base I.D. or dressed in uniform. All others are $12 adults; $6 ages 11 – 17. Saturday, November 12
10am—El Sereno Community Tribute to Veterans. All veterans are welcome to attend ceremony, which will be held at the flagpole on the center island located at Huntington Drive and Eastern Avenue in El Sereno.
10:30am—9th Annual Veterans Day observance at the Cypress Park Veterans Memorial, sponsored by the Friends of Cypress Park Community Improvement Association, in cooperation with the offices of L.A. City Councilmember Ed P. Reyes. Ceremony will honor those who have served their country in all branches of the military, especially local veterans –living and deceased. The Memorial is located at the triangle intersection of Cypress Avenue and Pepper Avenue, in Cypress Park. Military observances are expected to include an honor guard, a POW/MIA table ceremony, raising of the flags, national anthem, and the traditional 21-gun salute to honor fallen comrades. Local veterans are again asked to wear their uniforms, if available, and any military decorations earned. The Veterans Day celebration event is open to all.
Sunday, November 13
11am—6th Annual Northeast Los Angeles Veterans Day Parade & Eagle Rock Centennial Celebration. The event will start with an 11am solemn ceremony to honor Veterans from all branches of government at Eagle Rock City Hall: 2035 Colorado Blvd., LA 90041.The parade begins at 1 p.m., at the Glassell Park Recreation Center, 3750 Verdugo Rd., travels down Eagle Rock Boulevard, and ends at Eagle Rock High School, 1750 Eagle Rock Blvd. where the All Star Stage Show starts at 3 pm.
