The center is run by Barrio Planners Incorporated and is located a block from the Metro Gold Line Mariachi Plaza stop.

Five other sites across the city have also been reopened, replacing the LA Business Assistance Program.

The centers, operated by different organizations, are under the jurisdiction of the Community Development Department and the Mayor’s Office of Small Business as part of the LA BusinessSource (LABSC) program, which, according to the mayor’s office, supports the city’s 325,000 small businesses that are vital job creators in LA.

“We are reopening the BusinessSource Centers to give entrepreneurs the tools they need to create jobs and grow their businesses,” Villaraigosa said during the program opening.

Villaraigosa said his “five point plan” will create jobs in Los Angeles by reforming business taxes, reducing red tape, partnering for economic growth, modernizing LAX and improving the Port of Los Angeles, and building a 21st century transportation network.

Councilmember Huizar said the new center is an asset to Boyle Heights which has received nearly $2 billion in public investments in recent years.

“The Los Angeles BusinessSource Center provides the kind of real-world expertise, training and support that businesses need in these challenging economic times,” Huizar said.

The BusinessSource centers have full-time staff and project managers to help reduce bureaucratic red tape, and navigate permitting and contracting processes, and help companies leverage the new Local Preference Ordinance passed in 2011, according to the Mayor’s office.

The East Los Angeles BusinessSource Center is located at 1852 E. 1st St, Los Angeles, 90033.
