UPDATE: Killings in Lincoln Heights Fuel Rumors, Spread Fear
While police and the coroner’s office have not yet confirmed that the body found is in fact that of twenty-two-year-old Bree’ana Guzman, missing since Dec. 26, her family, speaking through an impromptu spokesperson, told reporters yesterday that it is her.
Guzman’s mother was informed by police that it is her, according a KCAL 9 Report.
The body was not fully clothed and appeared to have been dumped at the location some time ago, according to police.
One day after celebrating Christmas with her family, the young mother of two left her home on the 2300 block of Humboldt Street in Lincoln Heights to buy cough medicine but she never returned. She wasn’t feeling well but was planning to go to work the next day, according to the family, who early on feared she was a victim of foul play.
LAPD Media Relations, Robbery Homicide Unit, which is handling the case in Downtown Los Angeles, and the Northeast LAPD Division Detectives would not confirm today to EGP if the body found is that of the young Lincoln Heights mother.
Coroner’s Assistant Chief Investigation Ed Winter told EGP the body was decomposed. He said they are working on the difficult task of getting fingerprints and seeing if there’s a match.
If the fingerprints are a match, the body’s identity could be made public later today, if there is no match or if Guzman’s fingerprints are not on file, it could be weeks, he said.
The woman’s cause of death is not immediately known, and Winter couldn’t say when that determination would be made.
As of this morning, the Guzman’s Missing Person’s case is still open, according to Officer Frank Carrillo of the LAPD Robbery Homicide unit who reiterated they are still asking for the public’s assistance.
Last year in April, the nude body of 17-year-old Michelle Lozano was found in the brush near the interchange of the 5 and 10 Freeways off-ramp. Lozano, also a resident of Lincoln Heights, had been reported as missing. Asphyxia by strangulation was determined to be the cause of death, the coroner’s office told the LA Times.
It’s too early to say if there’s any relationship between the two cases, but Carrillo said they are not ruling anything out.
Anyone with information regarding the disappearance and death of Guzman can contact the LAPD Robbery homicide detectives at (213) 486-6890.

REST IN PEACE BREE’ANA
It has been evident from the beginnng that both cases are related, that the same offender(s) is/are responsible for both murders. It’s my opinion, as it has been from the start, that those responsible either reside/works in/around this small community or visits others there,. I’d suggest that the vehicle involved is most probably a van having a side door and that two men are involved. The most probable location they reside is in an easterly direction somewhere between the first victim’s place of residence and the Rite Aid store.
