Yu Named ‘Young Careerist’ East LA-Montebello Women’s Group

By EGP Staff Report

Allison Yu, president of the Monterey Park Rotary and manager of El Monte based First Sign Company, has been selected as the East Los Angeles-Montebello Business and Professional Women (BPW) “Young Careerist for 2012.”

The Young Careerist/Professional Program of BPW recognizes women and men between the ages of 21 and 35 who have been in their profession or business for at least a year.

Yu was scheduled to receive her award yesterday at the club’s dinner meeting at the DoubleTree Hotel in Rosemead.

Yu took over the management of the First Sign Company, started by her father, following his death. The company serves businesses in southern California and as far away as Las Vegas.

She has been a member of the Rotary Club of Monterey Park for three years and is its youngest President ever.

She is working with the Interact Club, which is the high school student arm of Rotary that this year worked on Rotary’s float for the Pasadena Rose Parade.

Yu has a B.A. degree in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and is planning to get her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Yu will now go on to compete next at the Sierra Mar District BPW level on Saturday, April 21st.
