SoCal Gas Offers Million in Rebates to Business Customers

By EGP Staff Report

Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) has more than $30 million in rebates and incentives available this year to its business customers for qualifying energy-efficiency projects, the company announced late last month at its annual Business Expo in Pomona.

About 300 business people attended the Expo, according to SoCalGas, which included workshops where businesses learned how to save energy and money by taking advantage of the utility’s programs and using the latest green technologies as part of their cost saving strategies.

SoCalGas’ incentives cover many types of natural gas equipment, as well as energy saving projects, according to the company. The incentive payouts are based on the amount of natural gas saved, and they often reach several thousands of dollars per project, SoCalGas said in a press release.

The businesses did not just learn what’s available, however, they also learned how to evaluate which technologies make the most financial sense as they strive to reduce waste and improve energy efficiency.

The Expo also featured a number of vendors and exhibitors showcasing the latest energy-saving tools. The utility also provided information about SoCalGas’ On-Bill Financing program, which provides qualified energy-efficiency projects with interest-free loans for up to $100,000, and how the utility helps businesses identify improvements that can help them save energy, lower their operating costs, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Rebates are available for more than 100 pieces of qualifying energy-efficient equipment, such as steam traps, insulation, boilers, water heaters, and a variety of foodservice equipment, according to the company.
