As of July 1, Insurance Carriers Must Pay for Some Autism Services

Local group to offer training on new law; deadline to register is July 11.

The Eastern Los Angeles Regional Center (ELARC) will present a parent training on the amended Health and Safety Code (SB 946), which went into effect on July 1. The law mandates that health insurance providers fund behavioral health services for individuals with Autism, PDD, and AspergerSyndrome. This parent training is for parents with private health insurance.

The training will be held twice, but parents are encouraged to attend only one session to allow more parents to attend. RSVPs are required by Wednesday, July 11.

The first training session will take place on Monday, July 16, 11am to 12:30 pm at the ELARC Alhambra Boardroom, located at 1000 S. Fremont, Alhambra, Ca 91803.

The second training will be held Wednesday, July 18, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Progressive Resources, located at 9280 Santa Fe Springs Rd, Santa Fe Springs, Ca 90670.
