Freeway Crash Kills 2

By City News Service

Two men were killed Tuesday in an alcohol-related crash on the connector road linking the westbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway and the southbound Long Beach (710) Freeway, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The victims were Joseph Almario, 21, and Manolo Magat, 23, both of San Gabriel, according to the CHP.

The connector road where the single-vehicle accident occurred begins in Alhambra and ends in neighboring Monterey Park.

The driver of the car, Christine Meng, 22, of San Gabriel, displayed signs of alcohol intoxication and may have been speeding, CHP Sgt. Bill Preciado told reporters at the scene. She suffered major injuries.

A passenger, Jason Lieu, 22, also of San Gabriel, suffered moderate injuries
