Heat Wave Called Off, But Cooling Centers Staying Open

With temperatures easing and some breezes rolling in, meteorologists have called of the heat wave. But cooling centers will still be operating this weekend, and until further notice, until the end of the month. So if you are unable make it to the beach this weekend, and the heat is still getting to you, there will still places in your area where you can escape. A few cool centers operating in our area that open during the weekend:

-Langley Center in Monterey Park will open as a cooling center on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 18-19. from 8am to 5pm. There will be restroom facilities and drinking water available. 400 W. Emerson Ave, Monterey Park, CA 91754

-East Los Angeles Library will be open Saturday, from 10am-5pm, and Sunday from 1pm-5pm.4837 E. 3rd Street, Los Angeles, CA.

-South Gate Senior Center is open 8am to 5pm both days this weekend. 4855 Tweedy Blvd, South Gate, CA. Call (323) 358-9662 for more information.
