(EGPNews) – The portion of a court-ordered sewer construction project that has constrained and rerouted traffic in Highland Park for many months, is nearing completion.
Construction crews this week started removing barricades and resurfacing Figueroa Street and York Boulevard, where temporary “No Parking” signs have been put up to allow for installation of the new pavement striping and markings.
The Dept. of Transportation will at the same time extend the York Boulevard bike lane between Avenue 55 and Figueroa Street, to reduce the time the community is impacted by construction in the area, according to office of Councilman Ed Reyes, in whose area the projects are located. Once the re-striping has been completed on York Boulevard, contractors will begin final construction of the sewer lines on Hamlet Street and Newland Street.
The anticipated time period for the completion of the York/Figueroa sewer construction and the installation of the York Boulevard bike lane is approximately 10 days from Sept. 24.
