Today: Cypress Park Library to Host ‘¡Ban This!’ Reading and Book Signing

By

Today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Cypress Park Library in Northeast Los Angeles will present “¡Ban This!” – an evening of mass education featuring 23 authors from the groundbreaking book “¡Ban This! The BSP Anthology of Xican@ Literature.”

“This bold and unparalleled collection of Chicano/a literature speaks to the modern Chicano/a struggle,” the banning of books and the fight to keep literature, culture and history fresh in the minds of generations to come,” according to the press announcement.

Event organizers say the event will introduce readers to “the most significant and compelling voices of the Xican@ movement since Rodolfo “Corky” Gonzales’ “Message to Aztlán”.

The event will include special readings and book signing, and more than half of the book’s contributors.

It is free and open to the public. The Cypress Park Library is located at 1150 Cypress Ave, LA 90065. For more information, call (323) 224-0039 or email aMeza@lapl.org.
