Bell Gardens Police Seek Driver In Fatal Hit and Run

By EGP News

Police are asking for the public’s help to find the person responsible for a hit-and-run that killed a man in late October.

Bell Gardens Police Capt. Jeff Travis identified the victim as Salvador Lopez, 52, of Maywood.

Lopez was struck on Oct. 21 around 7p.m. as he was crossing the street on the 8300 block of Eastern Avenue. The driver stopped but never exited the vehicle before driving off, said Travis. Lopez was pronounced dead around 2 a.m. the following day.

Travis told EGP an eyewitness described the suspect vehicle as a Nissan Quest minivan with a license plate containing “6K.”

No other witnesses have come forward, but Travis told EGP that “Sometimes people talk,” adding, “The vehicle may have come home with some damage, so maybe a neighbor would see the damage to a car.”

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the Bell Gardens Police Department (562) 806-7600.
