The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau is assisting Montebello Police investigate the death of a man who was fatally shot and whose body was found near a Montebello river embankment on Friday night.
Montebello police Lt. Larry Jackson told EGP that officers responded Friday Nov. 2 around 9:38 p.m. to a call reporting a “person down” on the Rio Hondo River embankment near Beverly Boulevard and Rae Drive near Great Rea Park.
When the officers arrived, they discovered a male victim unconscious on the ground. Montebello paramedics discovered that the unidentified victim had been fatally shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputy Mark Pope from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department told EGP they do not have yet have any leads on a possible suspect or suspects, or a motive for the killing.
