Power Outage In Highland Park

By

HIGHLAND PARK (CNS) – About 2,600 Department of Water and Power customers in the Highland Park area lost electricity today due to downed power lines.

MaryAnne Pierson of the DWP said the outage occurred about 2:15 p.m. in the area of Monte Vista just south of Avenue 59.
“It could have been a car running into a pole or a tree branch,” she said of the outage’s cause. “I just don’t know.”

Crews were working to repair the lines, but there was no estimate of when power would be restored.

Residents and businesses were still without power at 5:30pm; street signals were also not functioning, according to EGP.The outage area extended past Avenue 50.

Pierson said the Granada Hills area was also being affected by “scattered outages” and about 800 customers were without power. There was also no estimate of when those customers would have power restored.
