Six people were removed Sunday night from apartments overĀ a commercial building that became unstable in the Lincoln Heights area, a city fire official said.

The unstable building was reported at 7:15 p.m. at 590 W. Avenue 28, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Three men, three women and three dogs were removed from the 104-year-old building, which housed one- and two-story apartments above a business, Humphrey said.

All occupants exited the building safely, and no injuries were reported, Humphrey said. Those displaced were referred to the American Red Cross for assistance.

Residents reported hearing what sounded like an earthquake and a sudden jolt, before noting the building was collapsing.
