First Woman, African-American Sworn In as County D.A.

Jackie Lacey was sworn in on Monday afternoon as the new Los Angeles County District Attorney. She’s both the first woman and the first black American to hold the job. Voters selected her last month over Deputy District Attorney Alan Jackson, who’s a veteran prosecutor. Lacey was Chief Deputy District Attorney and was endorsed by her boss, Steve Cooley.
