2-6pm—Valentine’s Day “Everyone Has A Heart” free heart health screening event at APAIT Health Center. Get your blood pressure & cholesterol checked, and receive information on how to stay heart healthy by eating healthy and exercising. Event is supported by the American Heart Association and the USC Keck School of Medicine.  Free vegetables and fruit while supplies last. APAIT is located at 1730 W. Saturday, Feb. 16

9am-12pm—Eagle Rock Community Cleanup Day. Volunteers will pick up trash and clean the sidewalks and parkways of Eagle Rock. Tuesday, Feb. 19

6-7pm—East L.A. Library Celebrates the Year of the Snake! The free event will feature a performance by the America Chinese Dance Association. The Library is located at 4837 E. 3rd St. LA 90022. For more information, call (323) 264-0155.

4-5pm—Adult Chinese Language Class (Mandarin) at the Lincoln Heights Library. Learn the basic Chinese language (Mandarin orally and with simplified Chinese characters). The class is free and open to teens and adults. No prior Chinese language experience is required. Classes will continue every Tuesday through March 19. No RSVP needed. Join the LAPD Northeast Division’s Community Police Academy! The 10-week program runs from Feb. 21 through May 2nd. Topics covered will include: gang enforcement, identity theft, homicide investigations and SWAT. Enrolled students will be encouraged to build a lasting partnership with LAPD to reduce crime and improve the quality of life in local neighborhoods.
