Final Vote Counts Put Cedillo, Gardea In Run Off

Former Assemblyman Gil Cedillo remained under the majority needed to avoid a runoff and will face Jose Gardea May 21 to succeed First District Councilman Ed Reyes.

Cedillo received 49.32 percent of the vote to 43.45 percent for Gardea, Reyes’ longtime chief of staff, according to certified results of the March 5 election released Tuesday night by the City Clerk’s Office. Jesse Rosas, the third candidate in the race, received 7.21 percent.
