BREAKING NEWS: Mixed Verdicts In Bell Corruption Trial

By City News Service

Five former Bell city officials have been convicted of various counts of misappropriation of public funds and acquitted on others, while former Councilman Luis Artiga has been acquitted of all charges stemming from the massive corruption case. Former Mayor Oscar Hernandez and former council members Teresa Jacobo and George Mirabal have each been convicted of five counts and acquitted of five others. Former Councilman George Cole has been convicted of two counts and acquitted of one, while former Councilman Victor Bello is guilty of four counts and acquitted on four others.

Jurors say they are deadlocked on all of the remaining counts, however the judge has ordered that they resume deliberations on the remaining charges, which they are scheduled to do this afternoon.
