51-year-old Emilio Martinez, who police last month identified as wanted for questioning in the death of his housemate has been arrested and remains jailed in lieu of $1 million dollars bail.

Carmen King, 63, was fatally stabbed on Feb. 20 at the home on the 600 block of North 20th Street in Montebello. Martinez, who authorities are now referring to as her boyfriend, was being sought for information.

“After the stabbing, investigators received information that Martinez absconded to Mexico. Investigators were able to communicate with Martinez and encouraged him to turn himself in,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department statement detailing the arrest.

On Monday, March 4, Martinez turned himself in at the San Ysidro U.S.-Mexico border.

Martinez was taken to the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station where he was booked.
