Breaking News: Sinkhole Shuts Down Boyle Heights’ Area Street

By EGP News

Boyle Heights Sink Hole - June 28 2013
A portion of S. Soto, between Fourth and Sixth streets, was closed this afternoon after a ruptured underground pipe created a sinkhole.

The sinkhole in the first northbound lane was reported around 5pm today, with the Los Angeles Police Department sending out a Nixle Alert to notification subscribers at 5:15pm. The alert indicated the street was closed and advised drivers to use alternative streets.

The road was closed to vehicles, but pedestrians were still allowed to use the sidewalks to get to their destination.

It was unclear when the road would be repaired and reopened. No additional information was available.
