Red salsa, green salsa, spicy salsa and mild salsa competed head to head at Bell Garden’s first annual salsa competition during the city’s birthday celebration last month. The winners of what appears to be a new tradition were honored during a recent city council meeting.

Bell Gardens residents Evodio Toscano, Catherine Mickinley and Hilaria Cabrera were honored with plaques for placing first, second and third respectively in the competition that required the participants to prepare their very own salsa recipe in front of a large crowd.
