5-6pm—Halloween Fun at the Chet Holifield Library in Montebello. Come dressed in costume for contest, games, stories, and lots of fun! Open to all ages. 5-8pm – 6th Annual Halloween Party For LA Kids. The event will be held in Grand Hope Park at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM). Admission is $5 and includes Ralphs Fresh Fare candy, hot dogs and refreshments, puppet shows, bouncy houses, crafts, face painting, video games, and “trick-or-treat” doors. All Day—Fri-Sunday-Olvera Street Celebrates Day of the Dead/Dia de los Muertos With Music, Dance, Workshops, Novenario Procession. Performers include Aztec & ballet folklorico dancers, teatro groups, mariachis, and other entertainment from 11am to 9pm all three days. Join the nightly colorful & traditional novenario procession, which includes costumed performers, blessings, purfication ceremony and more (starts at 7pm). Presented by the Olvera Street Merchants. 10:30am-9pm—Dia de los Muertos Mixed Media Group Show at Corazon de Los Angeles at the historic Olvera Street Marketplace. Artist include George Yepes, Dave Sanchez, Maryanne Luera, Jorge Guillan, Daniel Esparza, Maria Kane, Oscar Magallanes, Rosie Guajardo, Deborah Blanco Flores, Paula Torres, Andrea Hibbard, Ozzie Carmona, Hugo Martinez, Rafael Cardenas and others. 11am-9:30pm—East LA Library Presents George Newman’s Casa de las Calaveras™ Day of the Dead Attraction: Life-size skeleton figures tell the moving story of a couple’s after-death experiences. Noon-4pm—The Dead Come to Life at LA Plaza! Annual Día de los Muertos celebration includes performances of music, dance and theatre with Xipe Totec, Teatro Tatalejos, and more. Hands-on workshops, make your own calavera mask, pan de muerto, and paper mache skull From 7 to 11pm, enjoy special performance by Voz De Mano after 10 years since their break-up, Matamoska Skacore, and Velorio from Bakersfield. Activities include music, art exhibits, altars & more. Free to the public.
