5:30-8:30pm—Las Posadas Nightly through Dec. 24 at Olvera Street in Downtown Los Angeles. Depicts the nine-day journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem with singing, a candlelight procession, and the breaking of a piñata each night in keeping with Mexican traditions. Admission is free. Friday, Dec. 20

8-10pm—Arts District Winterfest at Artshare LA & Angel City. Works by more than 20 other Arts District Artists, live music, astounding events and shenanigans. Featured artist is A.S. Ashley. Sunday, Dec. 22

2-4pm—Pershing Square Free Holiday Concert with Kid N Nic Kid N Nic as part of Downtown on Ice. The ice rink is open daily through Jan. 20th. Framed by towering skyscrapers and stunning historical landmarks, the spacious rink is made by LA Dep. of Recreation and Parks, Council District 14 & Willy Bietak Productions. Skating Admission: $8 per person; one-hour skating session Skate Rental: $2 (figure/hockey) Purchase tickets at the rink or in advance at: Ride Metro or Metrolink & receive a $1 skating session discount by showing their Metro/Metrolink transit receipt/pass. Tuesday, Dec. 24-Christmas Eve

3-9pm—L.A. County Holiday Celebration at the Music Center Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Choirs, instrumental groups, and dance companies representing the many cultures of Los Angeles celebrate the season with seasonally-themed music and dance. Pasadena Kidspace Family Winter Festival Dec. 26-30 Offers Crafts, Science, Live Performances, and Tons of Snow! Museum’s 6th annual Snow Days takes place from 9:30am to 5pm on the weekdays & 10am to 5pm on the weekend. Kidspace members get in one hour earlier on Dec. 26 & Dec. 28. Snow play for all ages; toddler zone; story time; crafts & daily live performances in the Stone Hollow Amphitheater from such groups as Radio Disney, the Sierra Madre Playhouse, the L.A. Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) Presents the Monterey Park Art+Film Lab Jan. 10-Feb. 9 at East Los Angeles College. The lab will offer free art & film programming to the community of Monterey Park & surrounding cities. Programs include interactive film workshops, a diverse line-up of film screenings, and an oral history project; all of which is free to the public. At the conclusion of the project, residents are invited to spend a day at the museum where they will receive free admission.
