Two strong advocates for local businesses have joined the East Los Angeles Board of Directors, the chamber announced this week.
Jesse Torres, president and CEO of East Los Angeles based Pan American Bank will serve as the board’s new treasure. Torres, a long time supporter of the Chamber and just one a small number of Hispanic bank presidents, brings nearly two decades of business experience to the board.
“I’m excited about joining the East L.A. Chamber and know this year will be a successful one. The East L.A. Chamber is a champion of small business and has been a big part of our community’s progress by facilitating the delivery of much-needed resources and advocating for business needs,” said Torres in a statement announcing the Chamber’s new board.
Torres said he looks forward to working with the Chamber to bring additional resources to the small business community and to helping connect them “to the capital they need.”
Also joining the board is Michele Arce, past president of the Boyle Heights Chamber of Commerce. Arce has over 20 years of experience working as a fundraiser and event planner, according to the Chamber.
“Always looking to foster collaboration, one of her most successful achievements was the outreach to and participation of approximately 20 chambers of commerce for a single event,” notes the Chamber’s announcement.
Arce said the Chamber has long advocated for the needs of local business and she’s “honored to be part of such a stellar organization.”
“The Chamber is fortunate to have so many dedicated and talented leaders that are ready to serve the community and help our organization grow,” said East L.A. Chamber President Eddie Torres. “Our priority at the Chamber is to ensure that our business community has the tools it needs to thrive. Our board members are a crucial element to helping us fulfill this mission.”
