Boyle Heights Arson Fires Under Investigation

By City News Service

Arson detectives were investigating a series of small fires, reportedly started by Molotov cocktails, that caused minor damage early Monday at the Ramona Gardens housing complex in Boyle Heights.

Firefighters were sent to the 1300 block of Vanegas Lane at 12:35 a.m., said Los Angeles Fire Department Battalion Chief Steve Ruda.

The flames, which were quickly extinguished, resulted in “minimal damage,” Ruda said. No one was hurt. Ruda could not confirm a report that the incident involved Molotov cocktails, and investigators were tight-lipped regarding the case.

No arrests have been reported.

Anyone with information on the fires was urged to call the LAFD arson hotline at (213) 893-9850.
