Investigation Underway in Boyle Heights ‘Molotov Cocktail’ Attack

By City News Service

Los Angeles Fire Department arson investigators are carrying out an
investigation at an apartment building in the 13-hundred block of Vanegas Lane in Boyle Heights. They’re probing a Molotov cocktail attack that occurred at around 12:45 a.m. this morning.

LAFD spokesman Cody Weireter told CBS News that fire crews doused the flames in about right minutes.

Authorities believe the fire started outside the building and spread to at least one of the apartments in the two-story building.

No information about a possible motive or suspect has been released.

There were no reported injuries.

Los Angeles Fire Department Battalion Chief Steve Ruda said today he could not confirm a report that the incident involved a Molotov cocktail, adding only that the fire was listed as “suspicious” in nature.
