Suspect Shot During Narcotics Investigation In Montebello

By City News Service

An investigation continues in the shooting of a suspect by a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agent at a home in Montebello.

Special agents conducting a narcotics investigation last Friday were trying to make contact with the occupants of a house in the 700 block of Davis Avenue when several people ran out of the back of the home, said Los Angeles County Sheriff Lt. John Corina.

“One suspect, a 35-year-old man, jumped a fence and ran through neighboring yards before encountering other DEA special agents who were positioned on the next street over,” he said. “At that point, an officer-involved shooting occurred and the suspect was shot one time.”

The man was taken to a hospital and was expected to survive, Corina said, adding that no weapon was recovered.

Anyone with information should contact the Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
