Hundreds of people turned out last week for the “3rd Annual Taste of Boyle Heights,” an outdoor fundraising event at Mariachi Plaza sponsored by the East Los Angeles Community Corporation.
The event celebrated the nonprofit’s 19 year anniversary helping eastside Latinos with services ranging from affordable housing to wealth building.
The event included food tasting from local eateries, including street vendors, live music, and recognitions by the organization of community leaders and businesses making a difference in the eastside. Seven restaurant owners who have joined forces with ELACC to create the First Street Community Businesses were also honored.
“I would like to thank ELACC for honoring the First Street Community Businesses at the Taste of Boyle Heights and for their committed support in the development of our emerging business association,” said Minerva Villa, business owner of J & F restaurant located at Mariachi Plaza. “United as businesses, we succeed at fortifying the commercial corridor.”
