By EGP Staff Report

Local filmmakers are being encouraged to submit their feature films and shorts to the first annual Highland Park Independent Film Festival set to launch this fall.

The festival aims to promote filmmaking in the community and will also support bi-monthly film screenings and a film mentorship at Franklin High School.

The deadline for filmmakers interested in showcasing their work to apply is Sept. 1.  The fee to enter is $50 for feature films (60 minutes or more) and $30 for shorts (under 45 minutes). Students get a $5 discount with valid ID. Fees must be paid with the application. For more information, email info@hpifilmfest.com.
