By City News Service

A man was fatally wounded during an argument with another man at an East Los Angeles restaurant, authorities said Monday.

The shooting was reported at 8:16 p.m. Sunday at a restaurant in the 6000 block of Whittier Boulevard, said Deputy Don Walker of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau. The restaurant, Rincon de Guayabitos #3, is at 6049 Whittier Blvd.

“Detectives have learned the victim and suspect were in the restaurant and engaged in some sort of argument when the suspect produced a gun and shot the victim,” Walker said. “The suspect was seen leaving the area in a black sports utility vehicle.”

Walker said the victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Homicide detectives were investigating the shooting this morning, he said.
