Bell Gardens Man Killed in Alcohol-Related Crash

By City News Service

The coroner’s office has released the name of a 43-year-old Los Angeles man who was killed in an alcohol-related crash in the Florence-Firestone neighborhood.

Jose Soto died at the scene of the crash, which happened around 2:40 a.m. July 19 on Gage Avenue west of Parmalee Avenue, authorities said.

Soto was driving a 1998 Ford F-150 pickup truck that collided with a big rig, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Investigators say the pickup was headed west on Gage, crossed the center line and slammed into the side of a slow-moving eastbound 2014 Peterbilt driven by a 49-year-old Colton man.

Neither the big rig driver, nor a 27-year-old Bell Gardens man who was a passenger in the semitrailer, were injured.
