Highland Park Toddler Dies In Tragic Accident

By City News Service

Authorities Wednesday investigated the death of a 2-year-old girl who was fatally injured when a trundle bed apparently collapsed on her in a Highland Park apartment.

The girl’s death in the 5200 block of Glen Ellen Place was reported to police around 7:20 p.m. Tuesday, Los Angeles police Officer Drake Madison said.

The child was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, Madison said. Her name was withheld, pending notification of her relatives.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the lower second mattress of the trundle bed, which would typically be stored beneath the main bed, had been pulled out and raised and apparently fell onto the child.

Police told The Times that there was no indication of foul play, and the girl’s parents were interviewed, but were not arrested.
