Ten Los Angeles Philharmonic concerts from this summer’s Hollywood Bowl concert season will be recorded and broadcast on Southland radio, it was announced this week.
Beginning Sunday, classical radio station 91.5 KUSC-FM will air the recorded concerts, and also include interviews with soloists and orchestra members. This Sunday’s broadcast will feature the Philharmonic’s performance of Tchaikovsky’s “Piano Concerto No. 1” and Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet” that were recorded July 15.
All concerts will air at 7 p.m. Sundays through Oct. 12.
For people outside the Los Angeles area, broadcasts will be available on 88.5 KPSC-FM in Palm Springs and 91.1 KDSC-FM in Thousand Oaks.
Support for the broadcasts came from the office of Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky. This year marks the eighth year KUSC has partnered with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
