SUV Strikes Pedestrians at Bus Stop

An SUV hit three pedestrians Friday near a bus stop in Monterey Park, leaving a woman dead and two other people critically injured.

The pedestrians were struck about 8:10 a.m. on Garfield Avenue near Garvey Avenue, the Monterey Park Police Department reported.

The woman died at the scene. Her name was withheld, pending notification of her relatives. The survivors were transported for hospital treatment, police said.

According to the preliminary investigation, an SUV hit the three pedestrians, and then struck a vehicle that was pushed into a third vehicle, NBC4 reported.

All of the victims were believed to be in their 70s.
