Parade committee members said having Rodriguez, a Congressional Medal of Honor nominee, as this year’s grand marshall is a special honor and tribute to the community, and everyone who can should attend both the parade and the jamaica (festival) that will follow.

“It will be a fun-filled day for the entire family,” said parade committee member Jaime Rodriguez.

Standing in front of posters promoting the event and a life-sized listing of medal of honor recipients, Vietnam veteran Ruben Treviso, Parade Committee Veteran Liason and Parade Committee Chairman Robert Monzon and Rodriguez noted that a special highlight of the festivities will be the renowned Hispanic Medal of Honor Exhibit, which features the most up to date information on Mexican American and Latino Congressional Medal of Honor recipients, including photographs, history and their stories.

Staff Sgt. Hector Rodriguez of Pasadena will serve as community grand marshal.

The parade kicks off at 11 a.m. at Los Robles Avenue and Prescott Street, and ends at Villa Park, located on Los Robles and Villa Street, where the Jamaica/festival will follow and feature food vendors, games, children’s area, face painting, crafts, live entertainment and a film festival.
