Cyclists Shot in Boyle Height: 1 dead, 1 Wounded

Two men riding bicycles were shot Tuesday, one of them fatally, near the Metro Gold Line Indiana Station in the Boyle Heights area of Los Angeles.

The crime was reported around 1:30 a.m. on Indiana Avenue just north of East Third Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The men, who were in their mid-30s, were taken to a hospital, where one died, said LAPD Detective Ross Nemeroff.

The fatally wounded cyclist was identified by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office as Ricardo Herrera Jr. 21, of Los Angeles . The name of the other wounded cyclist was not released, but he is expected to recover,  according to police.

No arrests were reported. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call (877) LAPD-247.
