Man Found Shot Dead in Commerce Identified

Authorities on Monday identified a man who was found shot to death in a dirt field in Commerce.

The body was discovered about 10 a.m. last Friday in the 2000 block of Saybrook Avenue, the sheriff’s department reported. The man was identified Monday as Edgar Godinez-Gomez, 26, of Los Angeles.

Employees of a nearby business found the body and notified authorities.

“The victim appeared to have at least one gunshot wound to the head,” a sheriff’s statement said. No arrests were reported.
