L.A. Phil Host’s “¡Bienvenido Gustavo!” — A Free Public Concert
Venezuelan born conductor will be joined by Herbie Hancock, Andrae Crouch and other musical greats during L.A. debut.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic will present a free concert to welcome Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel as its new music director at the Hollywood Bowl on Oct. 3.
Tickets to the free “¡Bienvenido Gustavo!” concert for the celebrated and world-renown Dudamel, will become available to the public on Aug. 1, according to the event annoucement.
The concert will feature a range of musical compositions that will draw on the many cultures and musical traditions of the city of Los Angeles and will include performances big local musicians and some of the biggest names in music, such as Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea with the Silverlake Conservatory Ensemble, Herbie Hancock with the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts Jazz Band and David Hidalgo and Taj Mahal with Los Cenzontles.
“¡Bienvenido Gustavo!” will culminate with the Philharmonic’s performance, led by Dudamel, of “Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.” Adding their chorus of diverse voices to the event is the Los Angeles Master Chorale, along with many other choruses from across Los Angeles County.
The concert will also feature the debut of the EXPO Center Youth Orchestra, the first project of Youth Orchestra Los Angeles, performing Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” and will also be led by Dudamel.
The Youth Orchestra Los Angeles is the Philharmonic’s initiative to build youth orchestras in undeserved communities by offering them free instruments and lessons, with the help from community partners.
Free tickets to “¡Bienvenido Gustavo!” will be available on Aug. 1 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Hollywood Bowl Box Office, HollywoodBowl.com, Ticketmaster, and by phone at (323) 850-2000. Service charges will apply at all sales channels except in person at the Hollywood Bowl Box Office.
