View over 170 photographs—documentary, artistic and journalistic—that document the struggle for equal rights, from the time of Rosa Parks’ famed bus protest to the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Exhibit runs through March 7, 2010. Upcoming Events
7th Annual 5k Taco Mambo Fun Run/Walk on Nov. 28 hosted by the non-profit Schurr High School Music Booster organization. The event will star and end on Schurr’s Athletic Field located at 820 N. Wilcox Ave. in Montebello. Taco Mambo participants follow a route through residential areas in Montebello. Registration begins at 8 a.m., and the Run/Walk start at 9a.m. Proceeds benefit Schurr’s Spartan Legion performing arts department. Registration is $25, but pledges also accepted. First 25 to register will receive T-shirts and goodie bags. Pre-registration information can be found at schurrmusic.org.
Golden Bear, a chapter of the American Institute of Parliamentarians will hold its monthly at Bristol Park, 1466 S. McDonnell Ave, City of Commerce, in the Rec Room, on Nov. 28 at 10:15 am. The Alzheimer’s Association is seeking volunteers to assist with their Helpline and light office duties at their mid-Wilshire headquarters in Los Angeles. The Alzheimer’s Association maintains a toll-free Helpline—1-800-272-3900— where people can call for information and support. The association trains volunteers to answer calls and provide information and referral services.
