Commerce Company Sues Popular Yoga Teacher

A City of Commerce-based clothing company is suing an internationally known yoga teacher who allegedly defamed the entity on social media earlier this month by stating that one of its owners was facing sexual harassment allegations.

ALO Inc.’s Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit was brought Dec. 8 against Dana Falsetti, whose Instagram account has about 306,000 followers and her Facebook account about 190,000 allegiants, according to the complaint, which seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages.

A representative for Philadelphia resident Falsetti, who was recently included on OOOM magazine’s list of 100 most inspiring people, could not be immediately reached.

ALO Inc.’s apparel line focuses on those who practice yoga and adhere to the goals of a healthy, fit life associated with California. The suit alleges Falsetti knew of ALO’s substantial presence in the state and intended to harm the company’s reputation when she stated on Instagram on Dec. 5 that there are “sexual harassment/assault allegations against on one of the owners” of ALO and that the firm “lies,” according to the complaint.

Falsetti knew her comments would be widely read when she posted them, according to the suit.
