Man Fatally Struck While Walking on Golden State Freeway

A man was killed early today walking across the northbound lanes of the Golden State (5) Freeway in Boyle Heights, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash was reported at 1:08 a.m.Wednesday near Cesar Chavez Avenue, said CHP Officer Tony Polizzi.

The man was walking in the lanes when he was struck by a Nissan Sentra driven by 22-year-old Huy Van Thanh Do of Winchester, the CHP reported. The victim died at the scene, Polizzi said.

The accident prompted the closure of the northbound No. 4 and 5 lanes as well as the Cesar Chavez Avenue off-ramp until about 3 a.m.

One Man Killed, One Wounded After Shooting in Boyle Heights

One man was killed and another was wounded Monday afternoon in a shooting in Boyle Heights.

Officers were called about 3:50 p.m. to the 900 block of South Bernal Avenue, according to Sgt. Alejandra Fiallos of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollenbeck Station.

The condition of the second shooting victim, who was taken to a hospital, was not immediately known.

Two rescue ambulances transported the patients from the scene to a hospital, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Man Killed in East Los Angeles

A man was shot and killed Sunday in East Los Angeles. The shooting death in the 4000 block of Olympic Boulevard occurred at 2:22 a.m., the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Sheriff’s homicide detectives asked anyone with any information regarding the shooting death to call them at (323) 890-5500.

Man Shot and Killed in Lincoln Heights

A man was shot and killed in his car on a street in Lincoln Heights Tuesday morning and four suspects—two men and two women—were arrested after a freeway pursuit that ended in La Puente, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The chase began when a man was found shot inside a car near the intersection of Broadway and Griffin Avenue in Lincoln Heights about 2am said a desk officer at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollenbeck Division.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was withheld pending family notification.

Authorities were also checking to see if he was driving for Uber, according to news reports from the scene.

LAPD units followed the suspect’s SUV on surface streets near the East L.A. interchange and then handed off the pursuit at 2:19am to the CHP when the SUV got on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway, said CHP Officer Francisco Villalobos.

“Our units picked up the pursuit in West Covina”, Villalobos said.

The suspects exited the 10 freeway at the Vincent Avenue offramp and then the chase continued on surface streets until the SUV got on to the westbound Pomona (60) Freeway at Azusa Avenue, Villalobos said. The pursuit ended in La Puente after the suspects exited the 60 Freeway at Hacienda Boulevard.

“Our units stopped them there and arrested them without incident at 2:52am,” Villalobos said.

Villalobos said he believes the suspects were handed over to the LAPD for booking.

The suspects included two men and two women, according to media reports from the scene.

No other information about them was immediately released.

19-Year Old Man Killed in Mount Washington

Authorities today identified a young man found shot to death in the Mount Washington area on Sunday, and sought public help to solve the crime.

The Los Angeles Police Department Northeast Homicide Detectives identified the victim as 19-year-old, Kaelyn Michael Tarin.

On Sunday, around 12:12pm, patrol officers of the LAPD Northeast Division responded to a call of a suspicious death in the 4700 block of North Figueroa Street at Sycamore Grove Park.  Upon arrival, officers discovered Tarin inside of a tent suffering from a gunshot wound.

The Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded and pronounced Tarin dead at scene. The motive of the murder is unknown at this time.  The investigation is still ongoing.
