EAST LOS ANGELES (CNS) – A hit-and-run driver was involved Tuesday in a non-injury collision with a Metro Gold Line train in East Los Angeles, authorities said.

The collision near Third and Herbert streets at the onramp to the Pomona (60) Freeway and near the Maravilla train station was reported at 9:44 a.m., according to Ramon Montenegro of the sheriff’s Transit Policing Division.

“The vehicle fled the scene and there were no injuries on the train,” Montenegro told City News Service.

The investigation, Montenegro said, was being handled by the CHP with an assist from the sheriff’s department and Metro.

CHP Officer Peter Nicholson told CNS the car was described as a “tan or gray Honda or Hyundai.” But there was no description regarding the driver, he said.

Metro’s Gold Line service was experiencing about a 10-minute delay and trains were moving on a single track between the Maravilla and Indiana stations, Metro spokesman Peter Jaeger said.

The southbound track was temporarily shut down at the collision site for the investigation, he said.
